Many people will be advised to follow a meal replacement program prior to surgery to make surgery safer and less complicated. Meal replacement programs should also include ‘low energy foods’ which provide fiber, vitamins and minerals, but very little energy (calories or kilojoules) whilst on the program. These foods are the basis for the recipes used in this book.

As bariatric surgery involves modifications to the stomach, most people will be advised to follow a liquid diet, then a smooth pureed food diet following surgery to assist the stomach in its healing process.
This ebook contains recipes for the fluid and smooth pureed diets. The recipes are high in nutrients to aid healing and recovery as well as being tasty and appetizing.

The recipes and the detailed nutritional information for each meal have been fantastic. It has helped me work on what I need to concentrate on in the long term. Thanks so much for saving me from the tyranny of the dreaded shakes! I still remember the fantastic feeling when I had the Beetroot, Walnut and Feta Smoothie after 10 days of Optifast and then clear fluids. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven!”

I made the pumpkin spinach frittata today: fantastic flavour, loved it. The recipe was easy to adapt for using other veges too, so I made another with different veges as well. Look forward to making some of the other recipes. I especially like the gorgeous color pictures, easy to read directions and knowing that these recipes are suitable for me.”

Sally has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) and a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, qualifying her as dietician and nutritionist. Sally is a published author in Australia and developed this ebook series specifically for the US to spread the word that food can still be enjoyable and tasty after weight loss surgery.
Sally has extensive experience in counseling those undergoing bariatric surgery, providing diet consultations at one of Australia’s premier holistic, multidisciplinary obesity management clinics.
Sally wrote this ebook series after years of patients asking if there were recipe books available for people undergoing bariatric surgery. However, anybody can write a recipe book. There are thousands on the market, even some aimed at those who have had weight loss surgery. So how is this series different? This series combines appetizing, healthy and simple recipes, the knowledge of a dietician and many of the lessons learned from working with bariatric clients over the years. Rigorous nutrition analysis has been undertaken in the development of all recipes and nutrition information is provided.
To complement the nutrition know‐how, a trained cook who has been through the dietary stages of bariatric surgery herself has reviewed the recipes. Her expertise on improving flavor, increasing fiber and protein, recipe variations and ensuring the methods were clear and easy to follow was invaluable.
